Will You Join the Movement?
The goal of Our Galaxy Publishing is to create space for women to use their authentic voices and express their creative innovations. It’s about advocating for stories to incite awareness, gain perspective, and establish cultural and literary expansion opportunities for women.
The decision to start this press has led me to meet women who have ultimately changed my life forever. My beliefs, my morals, and my creativity; they’re all heavily impacted by those who have entrusted their stories to me. I grow through them—every day. In honoring the value of these stories, and those untold, I sought to find a way to combine advocacy with literature through the collective.
Providing women with more publishing opportunities is a necessity for Our Galaxy Publishing. When deciding to produce our first anthology, I knew I wanted it to be a record of recounts of women writers who were at all stages of their publishing journeys writing in all different genres. For me, it was about knowing that no matter the path you're on, there's a place for your story.
But I also knew I needed to find a way for the writers to come together and make this book represent something bigger than just sharing our stories. I wanted to be sure we were also actively working together to create positive change. And that's where FemTruth Youth's non-profit organization swoops on into my world.
Advocating for women’s health education and awareness is a global necessity. My daughter must learn body literacy as a normalized integration of her academic curriculum. She will not grow up in a world where women do not receive the knowledge to make informed decisions about their bodies. It’s time to take power back.
A gaslit system has been generating discriminatory stigmas around women’s health for generations. The lack of health equity stops women in their tracks and prevents their ability to educate, advocate, and care for themselves. We need to do better to provide the resources and increase early awareness to bridge the gap between “in the dark” and “well-informed” about women’s health. It’s a worldwide issue.
FemTruth Youth's goal is to “reimagine school curriculum and culture inclusive of menstrual pain through artivism.” FemTruth Youth is creating new ways to advance the policies that will eliminate the shame, despair, and fear women experience because of their diseases and educate, elevate, and empower them instead. I instantly knew our writers could get involved in promoting that message.
Venus Rising: Musings & Lore from Women Writers is Our Galaxy Publishing's first-ever anthology, and together, we've taken the oath not to profit from the collection. We will be donating 100% of the proceeds from our anthology to FemTruth Youth’s non-profit efforts to bring their 3-act play, Gaslit, to communities to raise awareness in the reimagining of school curriculum and culture inclusive of menstrual pain.
There are many ways for you to get involved with their movement, and as a mother to a daughter, I could not encourage you more to go ahead and check out the movement they’re at the forefront of. It is my hope that we will all optimize FemTruth Youth’s tools and resources to amplify the goals we should all be aiming toward.
"Our Galaxy Publishing presents a noteworthy, honest recount of lessons and lore from influential women writers breaking barriers and amplifying their voices collectively."
When a Venus woman rises, she is in power to express herself. She is honing her passion, desires, and truth, ever-changing and evolving. A woman rising in Venus controls her narrative, telling stories to communicate her truth, breathing life into the values that unite her with other transcending women.
The stories of these women speak to the beauty and pain, the guts and glory, the thriving and striving of all it means to be in this embodiment. Venus Rising is an anthological collection of inspiring women writers who shine a light on their inner verities and lay their wounds bare for us all. Enter their world, see through their eyes, and rise like Goddess Venus herself.
