Pondering Creativity with Mae Wagner
Each week, we ask the authors we interview a series of prompted questions about their creative journey. Their responses are not edited and intend to continue the conversation about what it means to live and write creatively.
What does the word "creativity" mean in your world?
I believe creativity is the intentional act of both connect to myself in the healthiest way possible, while also vulnerably and authentically connect with the world around me.
Define your version of "success" in writing and pursuing creativity.
Success is an odd concept. We KNOW when we are doing what is right for us. We feel aligned and that is what success looks like for me.
What is the biggest thing that keeps you from your creative goals?
Me. 100% when I give in to stress, how I "feel", the state of life, etc.
How do you hope to contribute to the literary community through your craft?
By embracing my journey authentically–that it may help others to heal and do the same because they realize they aren't alone.
What would you say to someone who wants to pursue creativity but lacks confidence?
Do it. Do it all. Do what you want to do, and try things that scare you.
